DC-Cam

Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) is an independent Cambodian research institute. It was first established in 1995 as a field office for Yale University’s Cambodian Genocide Program with US State Department funding. DC-Cam is known for maintaining the world’s most extensive databases on Khmer Rouge History.

The Purpose of DC-Cam:

  • To help Cambodians heal the wound of the past by documenting, researching, and sharing the history of the Khmer Rouge period.
  • To contribute to a stronger rule of law and to prevent future human rights abuses, in Cambodia and beyond, by assisting in accountability efforts and teaching principles of law and justice.

DC-Cam has an outreach program, through which our participating students can connect, update and hear from  the Victims in the rural countryside of Cambodia. During the Pilot program in 2014, two CUHK law students have also visited DC-Cam, they met and discussed with DC-Cam director Youk Chhang regarding their works in promoting understanding of Justice, rule of Law in Cambodia.
